Y’all know I love to travel. This summer I did a quick weekend trip to Montreal and had a blast.
I mainly went on a friend’s recommendation, but I also wanted to understand Trey and Jamal a little bit better because Canadians are simply different. (I’ll never understand Jay Triano.)
I legitimately cancelled my trip when I saw Super Troopers 2, but then got bored and rebooked my flight. (Avoid that sequel).
Montreal was dope. The food, culture, summer weather — it’s all worth it. I like the language laws they have in Quebec that keep it French first; I don’t have to visit Paris now (?). And the terraces everywhere are great hangouts when everyone gets off work.
I missed the Montreal Grand Prix by a week, but there was a mural festival going on which was pretty fun for art enthusiasts. I just got a good vibe.
For the record, Jay is one of my favorite coaches. Check out this trick shot he pulled off in Charlotte.
Big thanks to Marcus Troy for showing me around. He’s been a friend for a while and it was great to finally have a chance to spend some time in his town. Some people are just a little cooler than others in the room and Marcus is that guy; he’s always up on the latest in fashion, culture, and lifestyle. I loved jumping on his podcast and catching up.
I stayed at the Hotel St. Paul. It has a good location in the heart of Old Montreal and I enjoyed the room. I ate at some very good restaurants and would consider these my favorites:
Kazu
Joe Beef
Questions:
Does Montreal get an NBA team some day?
After Steve Nash who’s the best Canadian basketball player ever?
Finally, shout out to these guys who took me in and taught me how to do a bachelor party properly.
